Who was Deon Lendore?
Deon Lendore was a Trinidadian sprinter who specialized in the 400 metres. He won a bronze medal in the 4 × 400 metres relay event at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and won medals at the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships, World Athletics Championships and World Athletics Indoor Championships. Trinidad and Tobago Olympic and World 4x400m Relay medalist Deon Lendore was killed in a car accident in Texas at the age of 29.
Lendore was driving home after training at Texas A&M University.
He pinned his country to a bronze medal in London 2012 and also competed in the Rio and Tokyo Olympics.
“Deon has flown the flag of Trinidad and Tobago with pride, honor, patriotism and an indomitable will,” said the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee.

“He has been an inspiration and a motivation for all of us, both on and off the track.”
Commonwealth Games 100m champion Michelle-Lee Ahye was one of many athletes who paid tribute.
“The pain I’m feeling right now. Fly high baby. We’ll miss you,” she wrote about her compatriot on Twitter.
Career
Lendore also won relay silver at the World Championships in Beijing in 2015 and took individual bronze at the World Indoors the following year in Portland, Oregon.
