Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is on its way to cinemas next month (April, 2022), and fans can’t wait to see the blue hedgehog back in action! To celebrate, Paramount Pictures has released an all-new behind the scenes clip of the upcoming movie

The film follows the titular hedgehog (Ben Schwartz) yet again, in what may turn out to be his biggest adventure yet.

Sonic has settled in Green Hills with his friend Tom (James Marsden), and is almost desperate to show that he has what it takes to be a real hero.

However, the “Blue Justice”, as Sonic likes to call himself, is faced with a true hero’s test when Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) returns. Unfortunately, he’s not alone; the villain invites Sonic to “meet Knuckles”, one of his new creations.

Robotnik and his partner in crime are on the hunt for a powerful emerald that will cause catastrophe if it lands in the mad scientist’s hands.

Luckily for Sonic, he isn’t alone either; Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey) has travelled a long way to find him, and so the duo embark on a journey to save the world.

While Schwartz, Carrey and Marsden return, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 welcomes new talent, such as Idris Elba (The Suicide Squad, Pacific Rim) who voices Knuckles the Echidna, and Shemar Moore as Randall.

The new behind the scenes clip features thoughts and opinions on Sonic 2 from director Jeff Fowler, and cast members Marsden, Natasha Rothwell, Schwartz, Carrey and more.

Marsden states that it’s “great to step into a sequel”, and says that audiences are “jazzed to see the next one.”

Carrey lent his thoughts in the clip, focusing on the fact that that his character’s moustache is “not big enough, as far as I’m concerned.”

The video also shows some sneak peeks at the cast recording their lines, allowing viewers to see the faces that match the characters, as well as how the cast leaned into their roles.

“I can’t wait to show the fans the Knuckles character,” says Elba, with Carrey commenting that the movie just “gets bigger and better.”

Along with the behind the scenes video, Paramount Pictures also recently released a short clip of Sonic and Knuckles going toe-to-toe on a snowy mountain. Watch this exciting clip below:

The short video shows blue and red battle it out while gliding down the mountain, with chaos raining down around them. It seems that neither action nor comedy are lacking in Sonic 2, proven by Sonic’s remark that “the Winter Soldier” is following him, referring to Knuckles.

Sonic is still as witty and daring as ever, and with Tails along for the ride, there will seemingly be no shortage of mischief or gall in the upcoming adventure.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 arrives in cinemas on April 1st, 2022.
