When asked how he was giving on, Bill said: ‘I’m feeling remarkably well thank you very much, I was diagnosed with quite advanced prostate cancer…

‘I changed my diet, I stopped drinking alcohol. I’m on hormones that do make me a bit weepy at times, but 85% of the time I feel great.’

Bill said that he has been receiving treatment from the Royal Marsden hospital and was attending an appointment there straight after the interview.

Divulging how he manages to deal with his prognosis, Bill said: ‘I suppose from the time you get up you have to think positively.’

He added: ‘There are days when I have to say that is not my attitude, but there are days that I do. I do yoga, I meditate a bit, and try to keep smiling.’

Bill was filmed smoking cannabis for a new Channel 4 documentary following his attempts to find suitable treatment for his advanced prostate cancer.

On taking cannabis to help ease his symptoms, Bill said: ‘The difficulty with cannabis is there’s a lot of stories about it and anecdotal evidence but full scientifically proven evidence is thin on the ground.

‘I have tried it, the difficulty is getting the proportions right and knowing the types to take. it is experimenting a bit, I take CBD every day.’
