Why Is Trevor Noah leaving Daily Show? Trevor Noah, who joined The Daily Show in 2014 as a regular contributor before succeeding Jon Stewart as host in 2015, is departing the program.
Staff members were surprised by the news, which was reportedly revealed to his audience earlier this evening. The announcement will probably be made during tonight’s episode, which Comedy Central will air at 11 p.m. ET. Decider contacted Comedy Central and Paramount, who is Comedy Central’s parent company, but neither organization responded right away.
Why Is Trevor Noah leaving Daily Show?
The South African comedian was initially viewed as a contentious choice to host the program, especially after some old tweets that appeared to be potentially anti-semitic surfaced. Other outdated routines came to light that sparked more controversy due to crude jokes about Aboriginal women. In addition (and perhaps less controversially), Stewart was praised for bringing comedy to the news as well as — frequently to his dismay — news to comedy fans. Noah, on the other hand, brought a different vibe to the proceedings.
The former ratings leader experienced a sharp decline in popularity as a result of the change, and the once ubiquitous Daily Show seemed to lose some of its appeal. However, over time, especially during the pandemic, Noah started to develop his own point of view and emerged as a respected voice in his own right. He may have relied less on humor and more on biting, incisive takes that were presented as video op-eds.

Additionally, Noah contributed to the spinoff of The Daily Show with The Opposition with Jordan Klepper, which starred Jordan Klepper, a longtime collaborator and correspondent. Noah has hosted the Grammy Awards twice and the White House Correspondents Dinner in 2022 in addition to The Daily Show.
There are rumors that he is also dating Dua Lipa, but that doesn’t really seem to matter in this case.
It appears that Noah’s time at the illustrious desk is coming to an end because his contract with Comedy Central expires this year. It is yet to be determined what Noah will do next or who will take up the baton that has been passed from Craig Kilborn to Jon Stewart to Noah. Although it’s fair to say that with more than 3,662 episodes and over 26 years on the air, it’s likely that the Paramount-owned network will want to keep the show going in some form, Comedy Centra hasn’t said anything about whether the show will continue at all.
Who’s the new host of The Daily Show?
Trevor Noah, the South African comedian who took over the hosting reins of “The Daily Show” after the departure of Jon Stewart (2007–2008 WGA Strike; 2008) seven years ago, announced on Thursday that he would be leaving the program. However, at the time of writing this report, the new host is unknown. Stay tuned for updates.
