Linzi Hunter had let her weight creep up over the years, but after losing her mum, dad and late husband of four years within four years of each other, Linzi Hunter turned towards food for comfort.

“The weight really started to pile on,” Linzi, 60, recalled. “I was eating all the wrong things.” Feeling as though she was in self-destruct mode, Linzi became a recluse, shielding herself away from the outside world.

“I became a hermit; I never left the house, ordered everything and didn’t want to go out or see anyone,” Linzi shared.

“My health was terrible,” she admitted. After experiencing a couple of heart attacks, and a minor stroke, Linzi felt like she was at death’s door.

“I wasn’t told directly that my weight was causing me these problems,” said Linzi. “But I knew it was playing a role.”

Scrolling across Facebook, Linzi saw a post from MuscleFood about their weight loss programme called Goal Plans. Taking away all the hassle of figuring out what’s for dinner, the plan provided three meals a day and snacks delivered straight to her door.

“There are no faddy shakes or cardboard-tasting food,” said Linzi. “It’s real food.” Linzi described the food as “delicious and easy to prepare”, which she could freeze and simply reheat whenever she wanted.

“It’s really filling too. I don’t have to add anything to the meals and I certainly don’t feel like I’m missing out on foods I enjoy,” said Linzi.

Goal Plans is a diet and fitness programme that supports realistic, sustained weight loss. Customers can choose from a five, six or seven-day plan before selecting which meals they would like.

Linzi enjoyed pizza, pancakes, and healthy ready meals for her diet plan regime.

“Some days I’ll have protein pancakes with a tropical fruit pot for breakfast, protein Goats Cheese pizza for lunch then a tasty paella for dinner,” Linzi revealed. “That’s not your usual kind of diet food but it works.”

When Linzi first began the plan, she weighed just over 15 stone, but now she tips the scales at 11-and-a-half stone.

“At the same time that I started Goal Plans, I started walking,” said Linzi. “The first time I walked to the entrance, the next time I did a lap of 1.3km.”

Recording her route on the Strava app, Linzi now does four laps (5.2km), twice every day, and she thoroughly enjoys the walks.

“The more I walk and the more weight I lose, the better I feel,” Linzi revealed. “Mentally I’m in a much better place and physically I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been.”

Linzi added: “For anyone else struggling to lose weight and being unsure where to start, my advice is that if I can do it, anyone can.”
