NICKI Minaj has extended her Pink Friday 2 World Tour after a successful first leg.
While many Barbz were excited by the news, some international fans felt cheated by the lack of overseas dates in the “world” tour.
On Friday, Nicki, 41, announced the new tour dates with a post on X, formally Twitter.
The Barbie World rapper tweeted, “We did it, Barbz.
“The first US leg of the #PinkFriday2 #GAGCITY TOUR was SO SUCCESSFUL, I was offered a 2nd leg beginning in SEPTEMBER.”
The announcement continued, “Sign up now & tkts will go on sale in a few more days. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. God is good.
“Don’t you ever give up. You got this. Let’s go!!!!!!!”
The post included a link to a concert RSVP site that listed the upcoming dates for the tour’s second leg.
Nicki’s first stop would be in Los Angeles followed shortly by dates in Dallas, Las Vegas, Miami, and New York City.
None of the upcoming shows were located outside the United States.
In response to feeling neglected by the absence of overseas dates, one person tweeted in response to the announcement, “WHAT ABOUT YOUR INTERNATIONAL FANS ONIKA.”
Nicki’s birth name is Onika Tanya Maraj.
They added, “She BEEN neglecting us.”
“She’s literally on the international leg now,” another fan defended.
A third replied, “Do yall know there’s more to international other than Europe?”
“Think she’s adding that next year,” a fourth commenter wrote along with several crying-face emojis.
“What about South Africa?!” questioned another.
NICKI NO SHOW
In March, just hours before she was set to perform live, Nicki canceled her Louisiana concert citing illness.
She was scheduled to perform at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, but the Super Bass singer’s cancelation at the last minute left fans in shambles.
The first US leg of the #PinkFriday2 #GAGCITY TOUR was SO SUCCESSFUL, I was offered a 2nd leg beginning in SEPTEMBER.”
Nicki Minaj
Nicki was set to perform at 9 pm but the Smoothie King Center posted on Instagram, “Due to doctor’s orders, Nicki Minaj must reschedule her NOLA show tonight,” short notice at 4:06 pm.
“As Nicki is still sick, our team does not want to run the risk of getting others sick, and Nicki would not be able to give NOLA the show they deserve,” it continued.
“We are working diligently to find a new date, so please hold onto your tickets, and we will inform you all soon.”
Nicki had performed three days prior at a music festival in Los Angeles when she first began feeling ill, according to her X account.
“Barbz pls send me healing energy. woke up feeling like I had Covid. Thank God I don’t,” she wrote to her fans on Friday.
“You guys are just everything. I appreciate you. I love you so much.”
Barbz, the name given to her devout fanbase, answered the call immediately, sending well wishes.
“I could tell your voice was a little off. Sending you healing energy. You still did AMAZING! Always working hard,” commented one fan.
“That means your body calls for rest. Please get some. We want you to enjoy touring but also your health comes first. We love you so much!” wrote another.
FRUSTRATED FANS
Unlike the response given following her first announcement, news of Nicki canceling the concert was met with more frustration.
“Nicki will never hear the end of this until she die !!!!!!” wrote one fan on the original Instagram announcement.
What about your international fans Onika.”
X user
“You’re f***ing crazy 1000 points down,” wrote another.
“I HATE IT HEREEEEE,” complained one comment.
On Friday, the star had pushed through her illness to perform, even giving her fans a heads-up about the state of her voice.
“Going on Station Head in a few mins. Barbz pls tell everyone. …and my voice is probably going to sound a lil diff,” she wrote in an X post.
She performed for over an hour on the Rolling Loud music festival stage.
As fans on Monday questioned why Minaj was not simply pushing through once again to fulfill her New Orleans obligation, many Barbz ran to her defense.
“Y’all on here cutting up, now had she still did the show sick and all y’all would have been crying about how horrible the show was,” scolded one fan.
“Let @NICKIMINAJ rest and make it up to y’all. Damn I can’t believe yall carrying on like this #GagCityNewOrleans,” they continued.
Other fans provided more thoughts and prayers for the performer and her crew following news of her health.
“Sending you healing energy and love your way@NICKIMINAJ Praying for you, your family and the entire crew,” posted one fan.
Some fans have been caught in the middle of the cancelation debate, understanding that the performer could not go on sick, but questioning the announcement’s timing.
“Nobody is mad bc she canceled, it’s the fact they waited 4 hours before the event to tell us officially,” commented a fan on the announcement post.
“She ain’t just get sick a few hours ago. This should’ve been announced this morning or yesterday. This is extremely last minute and I’m very frustrated,” explained another.
