‘This man @hughhanley is my everything! I can’t believe how my body has transformed since my addictions have stopped! All that excess sugar, not eating, binging and REPEAT! brought me to my knees mentally and physically!’

‘You don’t need to be an alcoholic to quit the booze and get healthy! Some days I am low, sometimes I don’t wanna get out of bed .. but today is not one of them!

‘With my clear mind, my man, my dog, and my weights I’m all set for today!’

Last week, Michelle revealed she’s intrigued to see how she’ll find the festive period without drinking, admitting she wants to know how others find joy without consuming alcohol.

She explained: ‘I’m almost eight months sober and I’m coming into celebrating Christmas for the first time without an alcoholic drink in my hand.

‘I’m really excited and a little bit nervous. I’m really excited to understand how others keep the joy in their lives without alcohol this year.’

She continued: ‘The last eight months have been a real journey of sobriety, but I’m so happy I can’t even explain how joyful I feel.

‘I couldn’t get to eight hours without picking up the drink towards the end, and here I am almost eight months clean and sober.’

Looking back at her journey, she continued: ‘It’s dangerous, because alcohol isn’t always that glamorous… From my perspective, I had to reach my rock bottom to ask for help.’

Michelle – who has two two children; Faith, nine, and Aaron, seven, with husband Hugh Hanley – added: ‘I was so unkind to people and myself, but now I’m sober I have that second chance.

‘That small change can make all the difference, make this Christmas count.’

Michelle previously revealed she did not go for a day without alcohol for three years before she checked into rehab in April.

Confessing that getting herself help was the hardest part of her journey during an appearance on Loose Women in September, Michelle said: ‘It’s the first step and its the hardest to admit you have a problem and that you’re powerless to drugs and alcohol.

She explained it wasn’t a ‘specific event’ that caused her admission into rehab, but she ended up ‘locked away by herself, lying and manipulating situations’.

Michelle revealed: ‘I became very very ill, it was a five year process. About three years it got a bit of a hold on me, I was happy in my addiction.’

‘Sometimes it’s difficult to say you have an addiction cos at times it feels fun, that’s the reality of it, it [alcohol] was my friend in need.

‘Any feeling, sad, happy, the sun’s shining, a party – any excuse. It got a hold of me really badly.’
