Alzarri Joseph is an Antiguan professional cricketer who has represented the West Indies in the longer formats of the sport (Tests and ODIs), as a frontline pace bowler. Before breaking into the senior national team in both those formats in the same year (2016), he was an integral member of the West Indian squad at the 2016 Under-19 ICC Cricket World Cup. He was one of the stars of the tournament, helping the West Indies win the tournament for the first time in history. With 13 wickets in 6 matches (at a stellar average of 13.76 runs per wicket and an astonishing economy rate of 3.31 runs per over), he was the team’s leading wicket-taker (and joint 3rd overall). He also recorded the fastest delivery of the tournament (143 kph). In the Caribbean domestic circuit, he has played for Leeward Islands (2014–Present) across all 3 formats. A rare occurrence in modern cricket, Alzarri has also played domestic cricket outside of his home country representing Worcestershire County Cricket Club (2021) in England.

Alzarri Joseph Facts
- He first came into the spotlight during the 2015–16 season of the Regional Four Day Competition (the premier first-class cricket competition in the West Indies) when he recorded the first 5-wicket haul of his first-class career (5/99 against Guyana). In the very next match, against the Windward Islands, he produced figures of 7/46.
- In 2016, after his exploits at the Under-19 ICC Cricket World Cup, Alzarri was honored with the ‘Antigua and Barbuda Sportsman of the Year’ award.
- In early 2019, his character was universally praised when he chose to continue playing in the 2nd test match of the West Indies’ 3-match bilateral home series against England, despite the news after the 2nd day’s play that his mother had passed away.
- In March 2019, he was picked by the Mumbai Indians as a replacement for the injured Adam Milne in the IPL (Indian Premier League). The following month, on his IPL debut, against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, he recorded scarcely believable bowling figures of 6/12. This made him just the 2nd player to have recorded a five-wicket haul on his IPL debut, after Andrew Tye (5/17 in 2017).
- These were also the best bowling figures in the history of the IPL, a record that was intact as of July 2022. Alzarri had broken the 11-year-old record for the best bowling figures in the IPL that was set by Sohail Tanvir (6/14) in May 2008 during the inaugural season of the IPL.
- In July 2019, he had been selected to represent the Amsterdam Knights in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam (a professional T20 cricket league that aimed to involve 6 city-based franchise teams – 2 each from Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands). However, about a month later, the tournament was canceled.
- Although he is primarily known for his bowling, he has some batting potential as well. In December 2020, he recorded the first fifty of his test match career, scoring 86 runs in the 2nd innings of a big defeat against New Zealand.
- He has been featured in franchise-based T20 leagues around the world, turning out for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots (2016–Present) and Saint Lucia Kings in the CPL (Caribbean Premier League); Mumbai Indians (2019) and Gujarat Titans (2022-Present) in the IPL (Indian Premier League); and Fortune Barishal in the BPL (Bangladesh Premier League).
