A mother has tricked her friends after serving them a very realistic cheeseboard, which is actually made out of cake.

Sarah Ball, 45, from Billericay in Essex made the sweet treat for a friend’s birthday party last month.

The wooden board, featuring a wine bottle with a personalised label, grapes, crackers, and cheeses including Camembert, Stilton and Edam was so realistic her friends tried to grab items away from it.

Finance manager Sarah, who has been an amateur baker for seven years, said: ‘Baking is definitely a creative outlet for me.’

‘A friend asked me to make this cake for a birthday party.

‘I planned it out and I had a sketch of what it was going to look like – she left the design up to me. I got great feedback on it.

‘At the party people thought it was a real cheeseboard. They tried to pick stuff up off it.’

It comes after cake artist Luke Vincentini, 23, from Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey showed off his everyday life by creating delicious cakes that look like ordinary objects

With some of Luke’s creations taking up to 14 hours to finish, his extraordinary painstaking recreations of everyday objects are all worth it for the incredibly reactions he gets for his sweet treats.

Speaking about his creations, Luke said: ‘People’s reactions have been the best art.

‘They usually go nuts but there have been people who say it makes them uncomfortable to watch.

‘After looking at something for so long, you just start nit-picking every little thing. I totally do that with my cakes but that’s what makes them even more spot on.

‘Ironically, I’m not a huge cake person, but people seem to love the taste. You can’t have a great looking cake that isn’t delicious!’

Luke has been making cakes for years, but for a long time his Instagram feed was filled with bakes that actually looked like regular cakes..
