An artist from San Antonio has teamed up with the Autism Treatment Center to raise money and awareness for a great cause.
Dimas Anthony Martinez, who is known for his hand-painted custom sneakers, has helped kick off this years KRW Kicks for Autism Awareness art contest.
The contest allowed people to create their custom kicks for a chance to win gift cards. They also raised money with a raffle.
Although Martinez enjoys anything that has to do with art, he also has a five-year-old son with autism, so this contest hits close to home for him.
Proceeds from the contest go to the Autism Treatment Center, which helps more than 650 people through direct care programs.

These programs help children and adults who are on the spectrum learn, work, play and live in the community. The center believes it’s important to help not only individuals in their childhood navigate life with autism, but also people in adulthood and seniors.
Martinez is happy to raise money for a great cause and give back to the autism community.
“And that’s always been the goal or point of it all…have it create positive energy, just be better and take this there, just to go beyond the art, to be something bigger than myself, really,” Martinez told KSAT 12. “This is our city. We’re going to take care of each other. And by doing this year out, you also share an awareness for others that may need the help and they just don’t know where to look.”
