The Living Room co-hosts Barry Du Bois and Miguel Maestre have been close friends for years.

And as Miguel, 39, prepares for his debut on Dancing with the Stars next week, Barry recalled on Friday how the celebrity chef once gave him the confidence to hit the dancefloor at the Logie Awards in 2012.

Barry, who is currently battling terminal cancer, revealed that he was feeling nervous and self-conscious before his first time attending TV’s night of nights.

The Living Room’s Barry Du Bois revealed on Friday how his ‘great friend’ Miguel Maestre gave him the confidence to dance all night at the Logies – as the chef prepares for his DWTS debut

He wrote: ‘Miguel said this is going to be an amazing night. I had intended to stay under the radar [but he said] “Let’s have some fun, Bazza! Let’s dance all night.”‘

Barry explained that he wasn’t going on the dancefloor because he didn’t have much experience, but Miguel wouldn’t take no for an answer.

He continued: ‘I explained I was not confident in that way and never danced. Quite frankly I couldn’t dance. “I will be with you my brother,” he said. “You will be fine!”‘

After loosening up a bit, Barry revealed the two men eventually hit the dancefloor together.

‘[Miguel] was determined to make sure I lived every second. Well, we did dance all night. To cut a long story short, I had a ball. [And it was] all thanks to my great friend.’

After undergoing cancer treatment last year, Barry said that Miguel had taught him important life lessons.

He told the Sydney Morning Herald in November that his friend helped him to realise that ‘life is a party [and] it’s up to you to enjoy it’.
