BEYONCE can finally register the trademark for her daughter Blue Ivy’s name after winning a battle over a Wisconsin clothing store, The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal.

Superstar Beyonce first tried to get federal regulators to trademark her eldest child Blue Ivy’s unusual name after she was born 12 years ago.

Beyonce’s BGK Trademark Holdings LLC applied at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office but ended up fighting with a wedding planner, Veronica Morales.

Morales, from Massachusetts, opposed the application as she had called her business Blue Ivy Events since September 2009, paperwork showed.

The dispute led to a tribunal in 2020 and the USPTO rejected Morales’ complaints and ruled the two were not enough alike.

Despite Beyonce’s legal victory, her lawyers never continued with the application and it was eventually abandoned.

MORE TRADEMARK TROUBLE

She applied a second time in November 2023, but again quickly ran into issues when an examiner issued a tentative ruling because of a Winsconsin clothing store having a Blue Ivy logo.

Documents show they claimed Blue Ivy Carter was too “confusingly similar” to the boutique, which has used the logo since 2011.

But after challenging the denial, The U.S. Sun can confirm they have now been allowed to go forward with the process.

The boutique itself never opposed the application.

It has since been amended by an examining attorney and approval has been given for publication in The Trademark Official Gazette on December 31.

‘CASHING IN’

“Within 30 days of the publication date, any party who believes it will be damaged by the registration of the mark may file a notice of opposition (or extension of time) with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board,” the documents said.

If no objection is filed, Beyonce’s lawyers will finally be issued a Notice of Allowance.

The name being trademarked could have massive potential for the family as they continue to carve out a showbiz career for Blue Ivy.

They have registered the name to cover everything from toys and sporting goods to furniture and even computer and software products.

When challenging the previous ruling, Beyonce’s team argued that “no reasonable consumer would ever suffer any form of confusion when encountering the Cited Logo, which is used with one small shop in Fish Creek, Wisconsin, an unincorporated community with a population of approximately 997 people.”

Beyonce’s husband, Jay-Z, initially claimed in an interview with Vanity Fair in 2013 that he and his wife wanted the trademark to stop others from cashing in.

He said, “People wanted to make products based on our child’s name, and you don’t want anybody trying to benefit off your baby’s name.

“It wasn’t for us to do anything; as you see, we haven’t done anything.”

The couple also has seven-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir, and have two pending trademarks for their names.

Now, Blue Ivy is stepping into the spotlight and following in her parent’s footsteps, and she could be set to profit from her name if the trademark is approved.

Fans have been seeing a lot more of Beyonce and Jay-Z’s daughter, as she performed with her mom in Texas for the halftime show during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans.

She also had the whole family support her for the premiere of Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King, in which she voices the character Princess Kiara.

The October filings also read: “When the mark is used by Applicant to sell goods and provide services affiliated with Ms. Blue Ivy Cater, the public will rightfully perceive the mark as connected to and affiliated with her and her superstar parents, Mr. Carter and Mrs. Carter.”

BIG ACHIEVEMENTS

The papers also reference all of Blue Ivy’s achievements so far.

Lawyers said she was dubbed the “most famous baby in the world” by
Time Magazine and the “New Princess of Pop” by Rolling Stone.

“She holds two Guinness World Records, has been on a song featured on the Billboard Charts, and has received numerous awards and recognitions, including a BET Award, a Soul Train Music Award, and a NAACP Image Award,” they stated.

“She has narrated a New York Times bestselling book (Hair Love),
danced and performed on stage around the world, and regularly appears with her parents at various public events, with related social media posts garnering nearly a million likes.”

In comparison, Beyonce’s team claimed the clothing store’s most recent Instagram post had just 21 likes.

“These basic facts make clear that the potential for confusion between the parties simply does not exist,” they went on.

“No reasonable consumer would conclude upon encountering the parties’ marks that Ms. Blue Ivy Cater was somehow connected to a lovely boutique shop in a small town in rural Wisconsin and that they
were jointly launching a clothing line featuring Ms. Carter.”

They added that her famous family already owns and operates a music, entertainment, and fashion conglomerate, which would be
much more likely to be involved in Blue Ivy’s commercial endeavors.

“She has already ‘worked’ with her family in similar ventures, like her mother’s clothing line (IVY PARK), music videos, and
concert performances, as well as her father’s songs and music videos,” lawyers said.

“Indeed, Ms. Blue Ivy Carter’s business activities are publicly announced ahead of time and receive wide-spread media attention, like when she narrated a children’s book about a Black father
learning to style his young daughter’s hair.”

The documents stated that the parties each exist and thrive in their separate worlds and can continue to do so in the future if Blue Ivy’s name is registered.
