He was instrumental in his team’s 13-3 victory over Houston. He led the club to their second Super Bowl appearance three years later, but they were defeated by the San Francisco 49ers. He was named NFL MVP in 1988 and was selected to the Pro Bowl during his Bengals tenure.
In 1993, he was traded to the New York Jets in exchange for a third-round pick. He sustained a serious concussion during the 1995 season. He will not be able to return to action until November 19.
