Joe Rogan has an upcoming show, and he’s using the opportunity to make a blunt statement.
For his September 16th appearance at Columbus, Ohio’s Schottenstein Center, Joe’s promoting the gig with political commentary you won’t hear on any other stage so big as his.
His poster announcing the event portrays the comedian wearing a hoodie while smoking a joint, his hands behind his back. Holding him in custody is a cop speaking gleefully into her walkie-talkie, her shirt adorned with a “Free Brittney Griner” button opposite her badge. The detaining officer: Kamala Harris.
It’s a razor-sharp point. As acknowledged by Joe on his enormously popular podcast, Kamala and the Biden administration have decried the Russian imprisonment of WNBA player Brittney following her breaking of the country’s drug laws. However, the Vice President wasn’t nearly of similar mind during her days as a California attorney.
In February, 31-year-old Brittney was arrested at the Sheremetyevo International Airport upon the Federal Security Service’s discovery of vape cartridges containing less than a gram of hash oil. She’d apparently carried what was prescribed in Arizona under the state’s medicinal marijuana law into a foreign territory.
On August 4th, she was sentenced to nine years in prison. That same day, Kamala tweeted her disgust:
“With today’s sentencing, Russia continues its wrongful detention of Brittney Griner. She should be released immediately. @POTUS and I, and our entire Administration, are working every day to reunite Brittney, as well as Paul Whelan, with loved ones who miss each of them dearly.”
It was a curious message from the former district attorney of San Francisco.
Courtesy of the New York Post:
The San Jose Mercury News reported in 2019 that during Harris’ tenure as San Francisco’s top prosecutor between 2004-2010, her office handled more than 1,900 marijuana convictions — although it has been pointed out that most of those arrested for low-level possession were spared prison time, and only a few dozen were incarcerated.
Harris was elected the Golden State’s attorney general in 2011 and had a further 1,970 people locked up for marijuana offenses on her watch, according to an investigation by the Washington Free Beacon, a conservative publication.
Here’s how Joe previously put it:
“That’s why the hypocrisy about the Brittney Griner situation was so egregious… Where Kamala Harris is talking about how horrible it is that Brittney Griner is in jail. Well, you put people in jail — you did. Thousands of people in jail, for marijuana. Yeah, it’s crazy. How come you guys didn’t exonerate people that were in jail for marijuana when you said you were going to? They said that they were going to make marijuana federally legal. They said they were going to exonerate prisoners who were in jail for non-violent drug offenses. This is what they said. None of that has happened.”

No one in mainstream entertainment calls out the Democrats quite like Joe — if you consider a podcast boasting as many as 200 million monthly downloads “mainstream.” In the age of left-wing wokeness, comedians have shriveled into their safe spaces, occasionally floating jokes that inch near controversial topics yet remain miles from anything clearly cancel-causing.

And if you’d like to get a dose in person, head to Ohio on September 13th; the performance should be arresting:
