IT’S been nearly 20 years since Carrie Underwood was crowned the winner of American Idol’s fourth season, and her star power has only continued to rise.
The country megastar recently branched out into the health and wellness space with her new fitness app, fit52, but recent workout videos have Underwood’s fans questioning her changing appearance.
Carrie Underwood and fit52 shared a joint post on social media promoting one of the app’s “Flash Fit” workouts, Flash Fit Legs with Carrie Underwood.
In the video, Underwood, dressed head-to-toe in athletic wear, faces the camera, smiling for her 13.2 million Instagram followers.
“Okay, it’s time to work out, let’s do this,” she says, before performing a series of moves including:
- Close Stance Dumbbell Squats
- Glute Bridges on Toes
- Mini Band Standing Hip Flexion
- Clam Shells
“Show your legs some love this long weekend with a Flash Fit workout!” the caption reads, alongside a leg and flexed bicep emoji.
“Our fearless leader @carrieunderwood is bringing you a spicy session that will target and strengthen your lower body.”
“Complete 10 reps of each move and repeat the circuit three times for a quick and effective workout in under 15 minutes.”
“Who will be working their legs with us this weekend?”
Some fans praised the singer’s workout routine and complimented her fit physique.
“If this is gonna give me Carrie’s Legs Count Me In,” wrote one user.
“Nothing like a good legzersize,” wrote another user.

Still, some fans were less focused on Underwood’s leg workout, and more so on the singer’s ever-changing appearance.
“She looks different… but always fit,” wrote one user.
The singer famously suffered a freak accident in November 2017.
“On Friday, Carrie Underwood took a hard fall on some steps outside her home,” Underwood’s representative wrote in a statement provided to Today on Sunday, November 12, 2017.
“While there were no life-threatening injuries, she was taken to the hospital to be treated.”
“She sustained multiple injuries including a broken wrist and some cuts and abrasions from the fall.”
“Her husband, Mike Fisher, was able to make it back into town that night to be with her and she was released from the hospital.”
“Her recovery will take some time and she appreciates all prayers and well wishes,” the representative added.
Underwood opened up about her injuries in a May 2018 interview with People.
“It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life,” she said.
“In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well.”
“I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.”
Underwood admitted she didn’t look the same and wasn’t sure if she ever would.
It’s unclear whether she’s had reconstructive or plastic surgery, or enhanced her appearance with Botox or fillers after the incident.
“An aesthetic professional suggested, without confirmation, that Underwood may have undergone treatments like anti-wrinkle injections, collagen synthesis, and dermal fillers for a youthful appearance, based on visual assessments rather than official reports,” as discussed on Vera Clinic.
However, not all fans were convinced the accidental fall was the reason behind the singer’s new look.
“Underwood’s face looks terrible. Whoever’s doing her plastic better stop she looks old,” wrote one X user.
“She made herself look 20 years older,” an Instagram user commented.
“I don’t understand why someone so beautiful would do that. She’ll never be the same except on the inside,” they added.
“She def looks a lot different than she used to,” commented another user.
Underwood launched her fitness app, fit52, alongside her longtime personal trainer, Eve Overland, in March 2020.
Fit52 is ” a holistic, community-powered wellness platform that aims to support you on your fitness journey and make it simple for you to find your path to a healthier, stronger you,” as described in its 2020 press release.
Fit52 has over 150,000 followers on Instagram, and their website claims 500,000+ individuals have at least downloaded the app – though it’s unclear how many active, daily users fit52 sees.
The app wasn’t the country singer’s first foray into the health and wellness industry.
She also launched an athleisure wear line in 2015, CALIA By Carrie Underwood, and published Find Your Path: Honor Your Body, Fuel Your Soul, and Get Strong with the Fit52 Life in 2020.
“I feel like earlier in my career I was working out more to be a certain size or fit into a certain aesthetic that I thought I wanted to be,” Underwood told People in January 2023.
“And now I feel like I work out more to be strong and to have energy and longevity,” she added.

The American Idol winner had relationships with Chace Crawford and Tony Romo but she ultimately walked down the aisle with Mike Fisher.
Mike is a Canadian retired hockey player from Peterborough, Ontario.
In October 1999, Fisher made his NHL debut with the Ottawa Senators.
He played for the Senators until he was traded to the Nashville Predators.
One of the reasons he agreed to the trade was so he could be close to his wife Carrie.
On December 20, 2009, Carrie and her former hockey captain hubby announced their engagement.
On July 10, 2010, Carrie Underwood and Mike tied the knot after almost two years of dating.
More than 250 people were in attendance at their wedding ceremony at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge in Greensboro, Georgia.
Carrie’s engagement ring from Mike features a yellow diamond and was valued at $150K.
In February 2015, the couple welcomed their first child; a son named Isaiah.
In January 2019, the singer and the pro athlete expanded their family further with the birth of their second son Jacob.
