THE actor’s management confirmed the devastating news on their social media channels, revealing that he had passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024.
Best known for his roles in the Sci-Fi channel series Eureka and the ABC fantasy drama series Once Upon a Time, tributes poured in from celebrity co-stars and fans alike, celebrating the character actor’s life and legacy.

“As a beloved Vancouver-based character actor, Chris shared his talents with so many of us both on television and in film.”
“His loss is felt not just by his fans but by those of us who were lucky enough to know him more personally,” they added.
“On behalf of his family, we do ask for privacy during this time so that they are able to grieve properly.”
After the news was revealed about his untimely passing, tributes from his co-stars have poured in.
Colin O’Donoghue, who portrayed Captain Killian “Hook” Jones in Once Upon a Time, shared his thoughts on his Instagram.
“Rest in Peace Chris! Heartbroken!” he captioned the post.
“My love and thoughts go out to Erin and the boys! You will be missed brother! You were the real captain!!”
“So sad to hear of the passing of Chris Gauthier,” tweeted Once Upon a Time’s showrunner, Adam Horowitz.
“Such a kind, sweet, and talented person. You will be missed,” he added.
Christopher Gorham, who worked with Gauthier on Harper’s Island, also shared his thoughts on X.
“Another good man gone too soon,” he tweeted.
“Grateful to have worked with Chris and am sending love to his family and friends. Rest in peace, pal,” he added.
