Davina McCall, 54, is best known for fronting several popular television shows; from presenting Big Brother, Comic Relief and The Million Pound Drop, to The Jump and more recently, appearing as a judge on The Masked Singer and The Masked Dancer. Having been in front of the camera for many decades, how Davina looks has been important, up until the last few years when she has prioritised health over dress size. In a new interview, the fitness fan has spoken out about her approach to exercise and how her mindset towards her body has changed over the years.
Speaking recently about exercising, Davina said: “If I feel that I’ve had a slobby couple of weeks and I have put on a bit of weight or I need to tone up, I will lower my calorie intake and exercise may be a tiny bit harder.
“[But] for me, working out isn’t just for Christmas and New Year. It’s not just to get in the bikini. It’s to stay alive longer.
“I really enjoy the way that it helps my head stay clear of negativity. It’s just a win-win in every sense.”
In 2018, Davina revealed she had slimmed down a dress size in just a year, going from size 12 to size 10.
Her weight transformation came after splitting with her husband and father to her three children.

The presenter said at the time: “I’m around 9st 10lbs and I’m in size 10 clothes, which is a size smaller than I was in last year, so it’s great. I’m really, really happy.
“I don’t want to lose any more weight now, though. This is exactly where I want to be,” she added.
Over the years, Davina has released numerous fitness DVDs, and she currently has a fitness Instagram account where she encourages her followers to do regular exercises.
As a member of Davina’s Own Your Goals online gym, users can get free access to her virtual fitness classes.

The TV personality also discussed embracing her 50s and “shedding the shackles of inhibition”.
She said: “It’s a time of liberation. It’s a time of shedding the shackles of inhibition and of giving a damn…Because I haven’t always felt like that.
“It’s not just being on telly and it’s not just being a show-off. It’s that I don’t really care what people think, which is very liberating.
“I’ve never met a more kind of rowdy bunch of irreverent people than menopausal women. When we’re left to our own devices, we are very bloody funny.”
As for her own emotional health, Davina revealed to Women’s Health magazine: “I have no drama…no stress. I’m just in a really good, happy, balanced state.
“Sometimes I feel a bit guilty…but I’ve got nothing to complain about.”
She also had some advice for anyone considering the ‘New Year, New You’ narrative.
She said: “I always compare it to an Etch-A-Sketch box. On that box is everything that’s happened in the last year, good and bad.
“New Year is your chance to turn [it] upside down and give it a good shake.
“You can make whatever you want of your life for the next year. If you want to get somewhere you can get there. Just visualise that, manifest it, write it down and make it happen.”
