Doctors have told DailyMail.com Scott Disick’s shockingly gaunt appearance has all the hallmarks of Ozempic abuse – as his friends and family have speculated.

The 40-year-old was photographed with a sunken-in cheeks and hollow eyes last week in Los Angeles – which are key features of ‘Ozempic face’, a side effects that has been reported in a number of users.

Dr Gary Motykie, a plastic surgeon from California, told DailyMail.com ‘Typically, medications like Ozempic don’t exhibit such aggressive effects.

‘However, if Scott is using semaglutide, it might be in an overly aggressive manner, which could exacerbate the issue. The most noticeable change in his appearance is his hollow, dark under-eye area.’

Dr Jeffrey Spiegel, a plastic surgeon from Massachusetts, agreed, but pointed out mental health problems, substance abuse and eating disorders could also play a role.

Regardless of the cause, he told this website: ‘The concern lies in the potential for malnutrition, which is never a positive sign.

‘Scott’s skin appears gray, a common sign associated with substance abuse rather than the effects of semaglutide.’

Mr Disick has opened up about his substance abuse in the past, including abusing alcohol and sleeping pills.

However, the Kardashian family fear Ozempic abuse is his current drug of choice.

A Kardashian-insider said: ‘Scott started taking Ozempic because he had serious issues with his weight gain. This time last year he saw himself as fat.

‘He had gained a lot of weight and couldn’t stand seeing himself in video footage that aired in the past couple of months. He would go to great lengths to cover it up.’

The source added: ‘Scott wanted the easy way out of his dad bod, but now it has clearly gone too far and, of course, the family is worried about him.’

While side effects of the medication run the gamut, ranging from depression, vomiting and stomach paralysis, women have increasingly been posting on social media about the facial aging and sagging that can accompany dramatic weight loss from using the drug.

A recent celebrity user who appeared to have suffered the side effect is Sharon Osbourne, who admitted she had to stop taking Ozempic because she lost so much weight and could not afford to lose any more – dropping to 97 pounds.

With extreme weight loss, it is not uncommon for areas of the face, such as the cheeks and under the eyes to deflate because of the loss of fat, so much so that a person appears much older than they actually are.

Dr Spiegel told DailyMail.com Ozempic could be an explanation for Mr Disick’s recent appearance

The doctor said weight-loss drugs like Ozempic or Wegovy don’t work overnight and need to be slowly ramped up over an extended period of time – and if Mr Disick hasn’t been seen in a few months, that could be why.

Dr Motykie told this website if the celebrity is using the weight-loss drug, it could ‘be in an overly aggressive manner.’

Dr Spiegel noted, however, other things can cause drastic weight loss, including mental health conditions, cancer, eating disorders and drug abuse, which the celebrity has struggled with in the past.

Dr Motykie told this website: ‘Regardless, the concern lies in the potential for malnutrition, which is never a positive sign. Scott’s skin appears gray, a common sign associated with substance abuse rather than the effects of semaglutide.’

But it could also be a result of abusing the weight-loss drug.

Malnutrition comes with a host of risks, including life-threatening ones. They include impaired organ and muscle function, extreme lethargy, stunted growth, ulcers and an increase the risk of diarrhea, measles, malaria and pneumonia.

No matter the reason, doctors have said they are concerned for him and that ‘addressing Mr Disick’s health and lifestyle choices is paramount for long-term improvement.’

Popular weight-loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy contain the active ingredient semaglutide, which mimics the actions of GLP-1, a hormone made naturally in the body that helps slow the passage of food through the stomach — making people feel less hungry — and alters the brain’s appetite regulation, so people feel satisfied despite eating less.

The medications also quell a person’s cravings for sugary or fatty foods.

Ozempic was originally approved for the treatment of diabetes but began being prescribed off-label when it was discovered taking the drug – and those similar – could cause dramatic weight loss in people who were obese.

And they quickly took off among celebrities.

Dr Spiegel said: ‘[The medication is] meant for those who are unhealthfully overweight or obese, but it’s well known that in image-obsessed Hollywood, they are used more widely and with softer indications.’

Ozempic and similar drugs like Wegovy and Mounjaro have become so popular their manufacturers have launched a campaign pleading with influential people to stop using them for ‘vanity reasons,’ which has led to shortages affecting those who genuinely need them for medical conditions.

Due to the gray area around prescribing these drugs ‘off-label’, and the stigma of using them when they are in short demand, many celebs have been reluctant to go public about their Ozempic use.

But DailyMail.com recently compiled a list of 16 celebrities who have admitted to using the weight-loss aids. They include Oprah Winfrey, Tracy Morgan, Elon Musk, Patti Stanger, Sharon Osbourne and Amy Schumer, who revealed she suffered ‘unlivable’ side effects, becoming ‘so sick’ she couldn’t play with her son.

People who have used the drugs previously revealed to DailyMail.com similar experiences, telling of the life-threatening side effects they had, including suicidal thoughts and stomach paralysis.

While an exact reason for Mr Disick’s extreme weight loss cannot be confirmed, Dr Motykie told DailyMail.com there are ways he can improve his gaunt appearance: ‘Scott could consider options such as improving his nutrition or discontinuing semaglutide if applicable.

‘Whether it’s malnutrition, substance abuse, or other factors, addressing Scott’s health and lifestyle choices is paramount for long-term improvement.

‘It’s worth noting that Scott is just 40 years old, so there is ample time for him to make positive changes, course correct, and embark on a healthier path.’
