Public Health England (PHE) have reported that 4,000 pregnant women received a Covid jab (up until May) with no serious side effects recorded.

Other “non-live” vaccines routinely offered to pregnant women in the UK include the flu jab and the whooping cough vaccine.

“Until more research is done, it is not possible to say for sure that these vaccines are 100 percent safe in pregnancy,” said Tommy’s.

But the charity emphasised: “But there has been no evidence so far to suggest they are unsafe.”
