The Kenyan comedian went viral again, this time for revealing the fallout she had with supermodel Naomi Campbell.
Who is TikTok influencer Elsa Majimbo?
Elsa Majimbo is a comedian from Nairobi, Kenya.
She began posting satirical monologues on TikTok, usually featuring her eating potato chips and wearing a pair of small sunglasses.
Elsa gained recognition in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, after uploading videos to the platform.
In 2021, she partnered with Valentino and received endorsements from makeup brands Fenty and Mac.
Apart from social media, Elsa is also an avid chess player and has participated in chess tournaments.
However, she has never pursued a professional chess career.
When did Elsa Majimbo meet Naomi Campbell?
In a since-deleted TikTok video, Elsa Majimbo goes into detail explaining how she first met supermodel Naomi Campbell.
She explains that, in December 2020, she DM’d Naomi, who was in Nairobi, and asked if they could meet.
According to Elsa, Naomi sent the influencer her location and even invited her and her brother to join her on her vacation.
She also alleges that a friend of Naomi told her that Naomi had been claiming her success and saying that “she told us she made you.”
What happened between Elsa Majimbo and Naomi Campbell?
In the nearly nine-minute clip, Elsa Majimbo also explains how she and Naomi Campbell fell out.
She explains that Naomi had suggested that they collaborate on a documentary about Elsa’s life in Kenya.
Fast forward to March 2022, Elsa’s short film, Elsa, premiered at the 2022 TriBeCa Film Festival.
Elsa claims that this incensed Naomi, who thought that Elsa had moved forward with the documentary plans without her.
She also says that Naomi called her and threatened to sue her for the rights to the film.
Elsa promised to call her back to continue the conversation the next day, but she had a 22-hour flight and was unable to keep her promise.
She says that this ticked Naomi off even more.
“She was like, ‘This is the last time I’m speaking to you. Have a nice life,'” Elsa explains.
Per Elsa’s version of events, her career was stunted after her relationship with Naomi fell apart.
She says, “Things started going very badly for me. I thought it was because of the situation, but I wanted to be sure.”
Elsa goes on to say she tried to call Naomi and apologize and when Naomi finally responded, she told her to stop trying to contact her.
Furthermore, Elsa says she turned to excessive drinking throughout the situation.
Later on, after asking a mutual friend to tell Naomi to text her, the supermodel reached out.
Elsa quotes her as saying, “I let that go a long time ago. I’m not one to hold a grudge,” in 2023.
She closes out the video by explaining that Naomi did give her a lot of credibility and introduced her to key people but the two “are not friends, we’re not enemies, we’re not anything.”
