Emma Barton has been a familiar face on the British small screen for over 15 years, starring in the BBC’s iconic EastEnders. The actor’s appearance has changed over the years but she has managed to stay slim, occasionally showing off her impressive figure on social media. How does she do it?

Emma has remained slim and toned over the years, and has previously credited exercise as the secret to her amazing figure.

The star works out regularly and eats a healthy and balanced diet.

A participant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019, Emma trained alongside Britain’s best dancers and put on energetic displays each week.

Due to the show’s intense training, many competitors have been known to lose weight during the course of the competition, and Emma may have done so too.

However, the actor was better prepared than some as she was already somewhat of a fitness fanatic.

Emma had shared her fitness routine before joining Strictly and continues to do so today.

The 44-year-old often goes jogging, and she even ran the London Marathon in 2019.

In the weeks leading up to the race, Emma shared snaps of her sports gear and detailed her training.

DON’T MISS:

In one Instagram post, she wrote: “Trainers on… 8-9 mile run to try today…”

The soap stalwart also posted photos of herself in the gym and explained she was adding weight training to her fitness routine.

She said: “Reasons to be happy…. Have the whole gym to yourself… Very wise in my case! @honegym #weightsbeginner.”

It is no surprise that running has helped Emma stay slim as it is one of the best sports for weight loss, according to Runner’s World.

The average person burns around 100 calories for every mile they run.

Running also created the “afterburn effect”, which is when the body continues to burn calories even when you’re no longer moving.

A study published by the Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise journal found that runners lost more weight than walkers over a six-year period, possibly because of this afterburn effect.

However, diet is just as important as exercise for weight loss.

Emma relies on a healthy diet to maintain her slim figure.

The actor changed her diet when she was training for the London Marathon, ensuring to focus more on healthier foods.

She ditched unhealthy snacks and began preparing homemade lunches, such as a chicken salad.

Sharing a photo of one of her healthy lunches on Instagram, Emma said: “Five days of healthy packed lunches prepped by me this morning! All change! #bartonsballchange. No more cheeky pasties & pork pies! Ready for a busy filming & dancing week!”
