- He made his first theatrical film appearance as Officer Gentry in the 2013 prison crime drama film Starred Up, starring Jack O’Connell, Ben Mendelsohn, and Rupert Friend.
- Between 2016 and 2017, Frederick Schmidt played John Corben/Metallo in the superhero drama television series Supergirl.
- He brought to life the character of Zola Mitsopolis (Alanna’s brother and right hand) in the 2018 action spy film Mission: Impossible – Fallout, starring Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, Sean Harris, Michelle Monaghan, and Alec Baldwin.
