Testing will also be extended to all those aged 65 and over with symptoms, as well as their households.

Under the changes, those who have symptoms and have to leave their home for work will also be eligible for testing.

The UK currently has the capacity to carry out more than 70,000 coronavirus tests a day.

Mr Hancock said at the daily briefing the Government was on track to meet the goal of 100,000 tests a day.
