GWEN Stefani has been revealed as the driving force behind her old band’s reunion.
The Voice star is set to take the stage again soon with her old band, No Doubt, at Coachella.
Gwen, 54, and her bandmates – bassist Tony Kanal, guitarist Tom Dumont, and drummer Adrian Young – haven’t performed together in almost 10 years.
Now, the rock music legends will put on a show at Coachella, which is set over two weekends from April 12 to April 21.
At the same time, Gwen’s husband Blake Shelton, 47, will carry out his own nationwide tour – but that didn’t stop Gwen from pushing for her own music career.
“[Gwen] has been pushing for it hard,” a source shared to Us Weekly.
Another source said that Gwen’s bandmates “hadn’t been into the idea” when she first pushed for a reunion, but she won them over.
“Once the Coachella team heard they had been talking and reached out with the offer, it really solidified the reunion.
“The whole group has some ideas for new material and are open to a tour directly after [their] performance,” the insider revealed.
The first source added, “Gwen is thrilled. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
HOMEBODY
While Gwen was passionate about getting No Doubt back together, she’s reportedly decided against a world tour.
“I’m sure they will play more shows after Coachella but the idea of a full-blown world tour is still a bit of a pipe dream for fans who have followed Gwen forever,” an insider shared.
“Gwen – and there’s really no band without Gwen – is not a road dog who likes to spend months and months at a time on the road, and she doesn’t feel pressure to do so, either.
“She still makes a fortune from her years of No Doubt recordings and her songs from those days are on the radio all the time,” they added.
The source concluded, “The Coachella reunion is more about making headlines and re-asserting the band’s catalogue for a new generation.
“It’s not a cash grab, it’s about maximizing the bang for the buck.”
APART AGAIN
The news of Gwen and Blake’s disparate plans as they focus on their own careers comes after fan speculation surrounding their marriage.
Gwen and Blake spent New Year’s Eve in different timezones, with both working on separate projects over the holiday.
After the New Year, a source shared that Blake was “really upset” and “disappointed” that he couldn’t spend the night with his wife, according to Life & Style.
Their insider also claimed that they were going through a rough patch, saying, “Gwen and Blake’s marriage is definitely in trouble.
“Lately, they’ve been at odds about everything from career decisions and the parenting of her three boys to where they spend most of their time.”
They concluded, “The tension continues to grow, and Blake and Gwen are drifting apart as a result.”
Fans also claimed that Gwen didn’t suit Blake’s country life.
