Harleen Deol is an Indian professional cricketer who has represented her country in the shorter formats of the sport (ODIs and T20Is), as a middle-order batter. She was an integral member of the Indian squad that had reached the final of the 2020 ICC Women’s World T20, the first time that India had made the final of this competition. She was also a key member of the Indian squad that won the ‘Silver’ medal at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. It was the first occasion where women’s cricket was included in the Commonwealth Games and just the 2nd time that cricket was played at the Commonwealth Games – a men’s tournament had previously been featured at the 1998 edition held in Kuala Lumpur. In the Indian domestic circuit, Harleen has played for Himachal Pradesh (2013-14-Present) across all 3 formats. In franchise-based T20 leagues, she has turned out for Trailblazers (2019–2020) and Supernovas (2022–Present) in the Women’s T20 Challenge.

1. A child prodigy, Harleen had started playing cricket when she was 7 years old and had competed in an inter-school under-19 cricket match for the first time when she was 8.
2. She initially used to play cricket with boys near her house, a situation that would often be mocked by people in the neighborhood. However, Harleen’s family was firmly behind her decision to pursue cricket seriously.
3. Although she was born and brought up in Chandigarh (a city, district, and union territory (a union territory is a type of administrative division in India which is governed, in part or in whole, by the Union Government of India) in India that serves as the joint capital of the two neighboring states of Punjab and Haryana), she has represented Himachal Pradesh (a northern Indian hill state that shares borders with both Punjab and Haryana) in the Indian domestic circuit.
4. This was because her father had work interests there around the time her performances at the junior level had started gaining the attention of selectors of senior-level teams on the Indian domestic circuit.
5. When she made her ODI (and international) debut in February 2019, she became just the 2nd female cricketer from Chandigarh – after Taniya Bhatia (debut international match in February 2018) – to have represented India in a senior international match.
