Harry Brook Facts
- Harry made his first-class debut for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in June 2016, in a match against Pakistan A, while he was still in high school.
- He made his County Championship (the premier domestic first-class cricket competition in England) debut for the club in June 2017. This debut was preceded by 3 centuries scored within a fortnight for the club’s 2nd XI.
- He was appointed the captain of the English squad for the 2018 edition of the Under-19 ICC Cricket World Cup. In England’s 2nd group stage match of the tournament, against Bangladesh, he scored 102 runs in just 84 balls and was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his performance. The feat made him just the second English captain, after Alastair Cook, to have scored a century in the tournament’s history.
- Although was the leading run-scorer (239 runs) for England in the tournament, his journey there ended in ignominy. First, he was dismissed for a ‘Golden Duck’ (a term used when a batter is out on the very first ball that he/she faced) in England’s quarter-final loss to arch-rivals Australia. Then, just before England’s last match of the tournament, a 7th place playoff against New Zealand, he was dropped from the team due to disciplinary reasons.
- In the 2022 season of the PSL, in a match against Islamabad United, he came on to bat with his team tottering at 12/3 and went on to score 102 runs not out off just 49 balls to catapult his team to a massive total of 197 runs. It was his first century in the T20 format and he also became the then youngest centurion in the tournament’s history.
