The account @healthy.organic.ways is known for its wellness advice and claimed in a recent post that this concoction can “completely cleanse your body” and eliminate toxins within days.

It explained: “Here’s what happens when you take olive oil and lemon juice daily… Cleanse your liver and gallbladder: This natural combo flushes out toxins in just five days.”

“Beat bloating and constipation: The cayenne pepper boosts digestion, metabolism, and reduces appetite for a full-body detox,” it continued.

The simple recipe requires olive oil, lemon juice, and cayenne pepper. A video accompanying the post instructed viewers to mix olive oil with lemon juice and consume it on an empty stomach to cleanse the liver, gallbladder, and intestines in just five days.

It went on: “In a small glass, add one tablespoon of olive oil, one tablespoon of lemon juice. Finally add half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper.

“This is essential because it not only stimulates digestion and boosts metabolism but, also helps reduce appetite which can be beneficial for those who want to lose weight and reduce bloating.

“Mix the ingredients well and when it’s ready, drink this mixture in the morning on an empty stomach. You can take it from Monday to Friday and rest on the weekends.

“You can repeat this for up to four weeks for a complete cleanse but you’ll start noticing its benefits from the first week. You’ll feel great and full of energy.”

According to the NHS, there are other methods to help you prevent bloating. Firstly, exercise is very important to improve your digestion and avoid gas.

Other methods include:

  • Chew with your mouth closed to avoid swallowing air
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Eat foods high in fibre if constipated
  • Eat smaller, more frequent meals instead of large meals
  • Massage your stomach from right to left to release trapped wind

If you’re still struggling with bloating, you can visit your local pharmacy if you’ve had the problem for more than three weeks or it hasn’t gone after changing your diet.
