Instagram users have been left horrified by a fermented cold-busting remedy that includes honey, various fruits, 12 cloves of garlic and an entire onion.
The bizarre concoction, which was shared on US-based BuzzFeed Tasty‘s Instagram page, garnered hundreds of comments from disgusted users – who were not impressed at the variety of ingredients.
One user claimed they would ‘rather die of a cold’ than drink the mixture, while another insisted that you would ‘stink for a whole week’ if you consumed the liquid.
The remedy requires one whole piece of ginger, which is quartered, peeled and minced followed by 12 cloves of minced garlic and four cinnamon sticks.
Then comes two halved jalapeno and habanero peppers, two sprigs of rosemary, one orange, two lemons, one apple, one onion, two tablespoons of honey and one cup of apple cider vinegar.

The bizarre concoction, which also includes jalapenos and apple cider vinegar, is strained through a sieve to collect it’s juice to ferment
The ingredients are all added to a large glass jar where they are squashed into place with a wooden spoon.
It needs to be stored in a cool dry place where it will ferment for three to six weeks, depending on how spicy you want the remedy to be.
The mixture is then strained through a sieve and the juice can be stored in a smaller jar in the fridge for one month.
Once the remedy is fermented, a small amount can be added to either soda water, to drink cold, or consumed as a hot tea with boiling water.

However, commenters were not impressed by the idea, with one saying: ‘I’d rather let the cold kill me.’
‘How to make everyone tell you that you stink for a full week in one single bottle’, said another.
‘Ewwwww. All that fruit would have rotted. Nope’, a third moaned.
A fourth said: ‘I’d rather die than try this.’

Others weren’t impressed that the remedy took so long to ferment, with one teasing that by the time the medicine is ready she would ‘already be dead’.
Another questioned: ‘So the idea is you prep it for when you have a cold, but you have to predict you’ll have a cold and prep it over a month in advance?’
However some users admitted that the remedy was effective, and others insisted they would be trying the remedy with one teasing that it looks ‘nasty enough to work’.

‘My mother used to make us a version of this, with lemon juice, onions, garlic, and honey. It was disgusting every time she forced down our throats but I have to admit that it did work’, revealed one.
Another said: ‘Thinking about making to have on standby.’
A third commented: ‘That looks just nasty enough to work!!!’
