KFC has shared a hack for creating a very British meal pairing its famous chicken burger with a breakfast treat to create a crumpet burger – and fans have hailed it as genius.

Taking to Instagram, the UK arm of the chicken chain shared an image of a five-layered burger, with alternating crumpets and fried chicken – topped with cheese and a sweet chilli sauce.

‘The KFC Crumpet Burger, because we can be fancy too,’ the brand wrote.

‘Grab some chicken, head to the shop for the crumpets, pop kettle on and enjoy a delightful treat!

‘PSA: This is a menu hack. It is not available in restaurant. If you ask for this in restaurant you’ll rightfully get funny looks and possibly judged.

Speaking to Femail, a spokesperson for KFC explained how to make the unusual burger at home.

They said: ‘Head to your local KFC and ask very nicely for two succulent Original Recipe Fillets, two cheese slices and a dip pot of Sweet Chilli Sauce.

‘Make sure to pick up some crumpets on the way home’.

Once your home, KFC recommends the following to create the decadent meal: ‘First toast your crumpets. Stack it to your liking. Slather in Sweet Chilli sauce. Tuck in!’
