LeBron James has a plan for the future that includes retiring after his oldest son, Bronny James, makes it to the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers player recently told the press that his final year in the association will be spent with his “mini-me.”
“The door’s not closed on that,” James told The Athletic on Saturday (Feb. 19) when asked about a potential return to Cleveland. LeBron played for the Cavaliers from 2014 to 2018. “I’m not saying I’m coming back and playing, I don’t know,” James said when further discussing the possibility of leaving the Lakers for another NBA team in the near future. “I don’t know what my future holds. I don’t even know when I’m free.”
LeBron James is presently in a multi-million dollar contract with Los Angeles. The star’s agreement with the Lakers lasts through the 2022-2023 season.
“My last year will be played with my son,” James told The Athletic. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be,” the celebrity father said. “I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year,” LeBron told the press. “It’s not about the money at that point.”
LeBron James has expressed his desire to play in the NBA with Bronny James on several occasions. The Los Angeles Lakers star recently told the press that he definitely wanted his son to play basketball professionally.
“I want him to be in the NBA,” LeBron said of Bronny. “I am not going to lie, I want to be on the court with him,” the celebrity father said. “[I] think that will be an unbelievable moment,” LeBron continued. “He’s about to be a Junior [in high school] so the years, it could get close, but we should see. But I want him to get to the NBA.”

There are rumors that Bronny is presently being considered as a second-round NBA pick. According to Eric Pincus of the Bleacher Report,
“Having polled several executives, Bronny James probably projects to be a second-round pick at this point, though it’s too early to say with any certainty. A team could reach for the son to lure the father.”
