More than 200 cases of a bottled Starbucks beverage are being voluntarily recalled because they may have been contaminated with metal fragments, according to a statement from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The drinks are named Starbucks Vanilla Espresso Triple Shot and are packaged in 15-ounce bottles.

Pepsico Inc, the manufacturing company that makes the drink, initiated the recall on August 15. The drinks were distributed to retail stores in the following states, per the FDA statement:

  • Arkansas
  • Arizona
  • Florida
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Oklahoma
  • Texas

The statement didn’t say how the drinks potentially became contaminated nor did it provide names of the stores carrying the recalled products. The status of the recall is ongoing.

That said, metal contamination often has something to do with the manufacturing process. “Metal shavings and other debris can end up in food from machines involved in processing,” Darin Detwiler, director of the regulatory affairs of the Food and Food Industries program at Northeastern University, previously told SELF. “There are a lot of recalls due to machine parts and physical debris that can cause harm.” The FDA statement did not warn of reports of injuries associated with the Starbucks recall.

If you live in one of the affected states and have the Starbucks Vanilla Espresso Triple Shot drinks in your home, you should return them to the store at which they were purchased. While you’re there, consider picking up another caffeine fix—perhaps one of these dietitian-approved coffee drinks instead.
