Pret A Manger has delighted fans by launching an at-home range, meaning customers will be able to make barista-style coffee in the comfort of their own kitchens.

The commuter’s favourite cafe chain is now selling their classic blend ground coffee, as well as a single origin Peru ground coffee and organic espresso beans, via Amazon.

While the ground coffee cost £9.50 for a 500g bag, the beans are sold by the kilo for £16.99.

The line officially launches on May 18, but are available to pre-order now.

Pret A Manger temporarily closed all stores on March 21 prior to the lockdown, but the chain has been gradually opening sites across the country for takeaway and delivery.

There are now 101 stores open across the UK with Perspex screens at tills, and social distancing measures in place.

A spokesperson for Pret told FEMAIL their Organic Classic Blend Ground Coffee is Pret’s signature filter blend with beans that have been handpicked and grown by farmers in Peru, Honduras, Sumatra and Ethiopia.

They said: ‘For those looking for something a little more complex, Pret’s Organic Single-Origin Peruvian Ground Coffee is carefully sourced from lush rainforests in the valley of Cajamarca, in the northern highlands of Peru.

Pret’s UK MD Clare Clough commented: ‘We are extremely proud of our organic coffee, which is carefully sourced from some of the finest coffee growing regions in the world.

‘We also know how much customers are missing it from their daily lives at the moment, so we’re delighted to be launching our first retail range with Amazon.’

‘This marks the first time that our customers can make their favourite Pret coffee at home.’

Prior to lockdown, Pret sold 80 million cups of the coffee a year. The shift to selling beans marks the beginning of wider retail offering planned by Pret, they say.

Coffee lovers missing the sandwich chain’s drinks have been attempting to whip them up at home after the cafe shared their recipes exclusively with FEMAIL.

And since the announcement of the new line, fans couldn’t contain their excitement and took to the comments section on social media.

Writing on Pret’s Instagram post, one wrote: ‘Order complete!! Was waiting for this day.’

‘Best news I’ve heard in a long time’ commented another, while a third typed a series of heart emojis and added: ‘Just ordered mine.’

But while many were delighted with the options on offer, others were keen for them to expand their range.

‘Please do decaf!!’ wrote one, while another penned: ‘What about your green tea.’
