Prue Leith will brief Scots as they ‘show way’ on assisted dying
The Great British Bake Off judge supports the campaign for law change in the UK after seeing her brother David, 74, suffer before he died from bone cancer in 2012.
A family twist is her son Danny Kruger, MP for Devizes in Wiltshire, is among its most vocal opponents.
Yet Dame Prue, 83, will speak at a Holyrood reception today for Liam MacArthur MSP in support of his Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults Bill.

She said: “I’d love to know I had an option to end my life if I wanted to because I was in unbearable pain. I’m not trying to make the world kill themselves. I just want people to have the choice when they are terminally ill. If you’ve had a good life, do you really want to spend the last six weeks of it hating it and being unable to leave?”
Dame Prue and Danny, 49, made a documentary on the issue this year, travelling around the US visiting places where it is legal. The Express Give Us Our Last Rights crusade also backs calls for law change.
