A thrifty shopper has shared how she got a huge haul of shopping from Morrisons – including fresh vegetables, fruit and cakes, for just £3.09 – by using an app designed to stop food waste.
Susan Dransfield, from Barnsley, posted a picture of her shop to the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.
Her goodies included Monster Munch crisps, fresh blueberries, bananas, parsnips and apples, which she purchased from her local grocery shop via the Too Good To Go app.
The app, which was launched in 2016, aims to save customers cash while saving the planet by cutting down on food waste, and so far it has partnered with 2,462 shops, cafes and restaurants across the country.
Morrisons recently became the first supermarket to sign up to Too Good To Go, and shoppers have been picking up boxes of food at the end of the day, which would have otherwise been chucked away.
Shoppers don’t know what they will get when they purchase a £3.09 ‘magic bag’, but most of the food is past or nearing its Best Before Date.

And many other shoppers have shared their hauls from the shop – including one who calculated they saved a massive 77 per cent of their groceries, buying two boxes for a total of £6.18 and receiving £26.43 worth of food.
With change from a tenner, the shopper picked up 24 bread rolls, six pitta breads, two loafs of bread, six croissants, a chocolate cake and a plethora of fruit and vegetables.
Another user shared a picture of dozens of apples, grapes, mushrooms and parsnips, all of which they’d picked up for £3.09.

Almost two million people have signed up to the app in the UK, and regularly bag bargains at the end of the day from shops, cafes and restaurants who would otherwise have throw the food away.
Currently only 80 Morrisons are using the app, across the UK, but the retailer hopes to expand nationwide if the trial is successful.
Convenience store chain Nisa local have also signed up, as well as many independent grocers.
