Zoe Ball’s Surprising New Job After Leaving Her £1 Million Gig! Zoe Ball’s son Woody has shared insights about her new job, revealing that she has stepped away from her celebrity lifestyle to take on a more ‘normal’ role. In a conversation with MailOnline, Woody mentioned that Zoe has been working at a local beach café since she left her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show in 2024, allowing her to spend more time with family.

He said, “It’s amusing to see how the wild party crowd I grew up with is now into gardening, doing puzzles, and working at the local café. It’s a funny transition, especially as I’m starting my own journey in music.”
The beach café, located in Hove, East Sussex, is owned by Zoe’s ex-husband, Fatboy Slim (Norman Cook), who purchased it in 2013. Despite their split in 2016, the couple has maintained a good friendship and co-parents their two children.
The Big Beach Café is known for being family- and dog-friendly, offering a variety of beverages, including coffee and tea, along with a diverse food menu that features vegetarian, vegan, and kids’ options.

Zoe decided to leave her radio position, where she earned nearly £1 million a year as one of the highest-paid presenters at the BBC, to prioritize her family after the heartbreaking loss of her mother, Julia, to pancreatic cancer in April.
Reflecting on her departure during her last broadcast, she expressed to her listeners, “It’s like having a chat with a friend. It’s such a special and intimate connection.”
She added, “Doing this show has been a true gift, following in the footsteps of Terry, Steve, and others. It’s been an honor to be the first woman to present the show… remember, girls, you can achieve anything.”

Zoe will return to BBC Radio 2 with a new weekly show starting in May, along with two special programs, one of which will celebrate Elaine Paige’s remarkable 60-year career in showbusiness. Commenting on Zoe’s return, Helen Thomas, head of Radio 2, expressed her excitement: “Zoe is one of the UK’s most-loved presenters, so I’m thrilled to announce that she has a new home on Radio 2 on Saturday lunchtimes, plus she’ll be hosting various specials for us throughout the year.”
