Weight loss is best achieved with a healthy diet plan and regular exercise. One woman shared her tips after slimming down from 16st 9lb to 11st 7lb.

Emma Pennington, 32, noticed the pounds pile on after swapping her active role in the army for a job in a fish and chip restaurant.

Shortly after, the dieter started a job in an office which meant she spent most of the day sitting down.

Emma explained: “I had spent almost five years of my late teens and early 20’s in the British Army, refuelling and rearming helicopters, I was very fit and active.

“Unfortunately I sustained an injury to my back and hips and this is where I believe my weight problem started.

“When I left the army in 2009 I hadn’t decided what career I wanted to pursue and I started working in a fish and chip shop restaurant and, as you can imagine, this contributed to my weight gain.

“In 2013 I started working for a medical legal company which involved me sitting at my desk for the majority of the day.”

Moving less and eating more caused the slimmer to gain weight and Emma soon tipped the scales at 16st 9lb.

Once a healthy size 12, the slimmer was soon struggling to fit into a size 20.

DON’T MISS

After overindulging during the Christmas period, she decided it was time to make a change.

Emma added: “I had spent the whole of the Christmas holidays eating and drinking literally all day, everyday and I could feel myself getting bigger by the second.

“I was massively overweight, my legs were sore from rubbing together.

“I was living in black leggings, vest tops, cardigans and scarves to hide my belly, arms and legs. On New Year’s Day 2018 something just clicked and I thought ‘enough is enough’.”

Knowing that she needed to change her diet, the slimmer looked for quick and simple plans.

She continued: “I got this massive fire in my belly and knew it was time to change. The next day I went to the shop and brought a selection of SlimFast products.

“I needed a simple but effective plan and I knew that SlimFast worked for friends so thought I’d give it a go.”

SlimFast is a meal replacement plan which encourages slimmers to combine its snacks with home cooked meals.

The dieter explained she would mix replacement SlimFast products with healthy meals.

Emma said: “On a typical day I would have a chocolate shake for breakfast, a caramel shake for lunch and a 100 calorie snack such as an apple at 10.30am.

“For my tea when I got home from work, I would have something such as chicken pasta.

“As the weight came off, I was more and more motivated to keep going. I started this journey for me, for my future and for my health.

“To date I’ve lost just over five stone and I couldn’t be prouder!”
