Every Prime Day, members can shop hundreds of unique deals from top-rated brands, including Apple, Olaplex, Dyson, and more. Some of the best deals of course are Amazon devices like its Alexa voice-enabled smart speaker Echo Dot or the Fire TV Stick streaming device.
The two-day event plays host to a cornucopia of goodies that essentially act as a summer kick-off sale. And while it’s meant only for Amazon Prime members, you can sign up to become one at any point thanks to a free 30-day trial during the sale so you never have to miss out. When is Prime Day 2022?
In an Amazon press release sent out in April, Amazon confirmed that Prime Day 2022 would take place in July this year. Though there was no specific date announced, we can surmise what dates we can expect based on previous Amazon Prime Day dates. Aside from the anomaly that was Prime Day 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Day generally takes place within the summer months, though last year it was uncharacteristically early.

We estimate Prime Day 2022 will likely take place between July 12 and July 18. However, there may also be a series of early-access deals for Prime members on select items that drop before the official Prime Day date, so keep an eye out for those as well.
Is Prime Day free to shop?
Yes, Prime Day 2022 will be free to shop for anyone with a Prime membership. All you’ll pay for are the deals you decide to take part in, and if you’re purchasing Prime-enabled items, you should also be getting free shipping, too.
Do you need an Amazon Prime membership to shop for Prime Day deals?
Yes and no. While Prime Day savings are exclusively reserved for Amazon Prime subscribers many brands competitively drop their prices and if your cart is full enough you should be able to get away with free delivery. The one thing you might miss out on is Prime Day exclusive early deals. If you want to get a Prime Day membership, it’s $14.99 per month ($139 per year) to sign up for the service, though there are lower-cost options for students and seniors. Plus, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime as long as you’re a first-time subscriber. Just remember to cancel before the 30 days have elapsed if you don’t want to keep your subscription at the end of the trial.
How will Amazon Prime Day be different this year?
Much of what we can expect from Prime Day 2022 remains unconfirmed at this time. As with last year’s Prime Day and the year before that, we’ll likely see a special Prime Day concert, though there has not yet been an announcement as such. We may also see Prime members given a $10 credit to use toward Prime Day in support of small businesses as we did in 2021, but only time will tell. Right now, we do know that Prime Day will be extended to 20 countries this year, as announced in Amazon’s press release.
