Meet Elon’s twin boys Xavier and Griffin Musk
Born 15 April 2004, Elon’s eldest children, Xavier and Griffin Musk, recently turned 18.
After the tragic death of Nevada Alexander Musk – their firstborn – Elon and ex-wife Justine Wilson turned to IVF.
“Elon and I planned to get pregnant again as swiftly as possible”, Justine wrote in an essay published by Marie Claire in September 2010.

“Within the next five years, I gave birth to twins, then triplets.”
Xavier and Griffin were the twins, Saxon, Damian and Kai the triplets. Less than two years separate the two sets; the latter three were born on 1 January 2006 and are currently 16 years old.
Where did Xavier and Griffin go to school?
According to a year-old Newsthink video essay entitled Why Elon Musk Built A School For His Kids, the entrepreneur set up Ad Astra School to tailor-make his children’s education after he grew disenchanted by what he saw as deficiencies in the American school system.
He recruited one of the teachers at Xavier and Griffin’s school, Josh Dahn, who felt similarly about education. Together, they set up Ad Astra in 2014.

During an interview with Chinese TV network BTV that year, Musk spoke about his motivations.
“The regular schools just weren’t doing the things I thought should be done”, he said.
When Ad Astra – which means “to the stars” in Latin – closed in June 2020, Musk donated funds to kickstart Astra Nova, Josh Hahn’s new online school. Read more about it here. Hahn is its executive director and he co-founded Synthesis a month after Astra Nova launched.
Elon Musk has seven children in total, or eight including Nevada Alexander
Elon Musk and ex-wife Justine Wilson’s firstborn, Nevada Alexander, died at just ten weeks old. Not long afterwards, they had Griffin, Xavier, Damian, Saxon and Kai, in 2004 and then 2006.
Musk married Westworld actress Talulah Riley twice and had a brief relationship with Amber Heard, but he didn’t have any more children until he started dating singer Grimes in May 2018.

She gave birth to son X AE A-XII, pronounced “X Ash A Twelve” – or possibly “X A.I. Archangel” – in May 2021. They welcomed a daughter the following December via a surrogate mother. Her name is Exa Dark Sideræl, or Y for short.
They plan to have “at least three or four” children together, Grimes told Vanity Fair in March 2022.
