Chelsey Peters, from Jersey, couldn’t accept that her son Alice’s beloved stuffed toy, Toby, was gone forever after she left him behind on a trip to see relatives.

The family had flown from her home in the Channel Islands to London Luton Airport in late October and Mrs Peters put an AirTag on the black teddy bear before she left, just in case.

But her worst fears were realized when she realized that the beloved bear had disappeared while she was putting Alice to bed at her grandmother’s house.

The Peters family, including Alice’s little brother Oliver, aged four, and Mrs Peters’ husband Daniel Peters, flew from the Channel Islands to Luton to attend a wedding and visit family in Kent.

Most parents could have admitted defeat and immediately started looking for a replacement stuffed toy.

However, Mrs Peters was determined to track down the bear and set about emailing members of staff at Luton’s lost and found department and tracking Toby’s AirTag location in the hope that she might be reunited with her daughter. .

Mrs Peters said: ‘Toby is Alice’s best friend and goes everywhere with her. He now he is not allowed to go to school, so he stays at home or in her bag.

The Peters family, including Alice’s little brother Oliver and Mrs Peter’s husband Daniel Peters, flew from Jersey to Luton on October 27 to attend a wedding and visit family in Kent.

We called all the numbers and spent hours at the check-in counter trying to find him. It has an AirTag and we can see that it has been stored in Luton. Please help bring it back!’

And he added: ‘Please help him return it to a very sad four-year-old. He’s been missing six days now!

Mrs Peters then set about locating anyone she could help, including the staff at Menzies Aviation, easyJet’s handling agent in Luton.

She explained: ‘We kept emailing Menzies to find him but got no reply.

“Then I googled Menzies Aviation and found the email address of the site administrator in Luton.

‘I forwarded our emails to him and got an ‘out of office’ saying he had left the company.

‘Fortunately, his out of office had the replacement details for him, including a phone number. My husband called and was very helpful in locating him.’

Staff went through the missing belongings and finally found Toby sitting in a pile of other belongings.

He has since been moved to an office in Bishop’s Stortford, Herts, and is now waiting to be taken back to the family.

An EasyJet spokesman said: “We are delighted that Toby has been found safe and sound at Luton airport and is reunited with Alice.”

‘We wish you many more happy journeys together.’
