Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) say a pregnant woman was killed in a car crash outside Athens on Saturday morning.
According to a statement from ALEA, the accident occurred around 2:00 a.m. m. on Zehner Road.

Laurina R. Hernandez, 28, of Quincy, Ill. she was seven months pregnant when the accident occurred. She was the passenger when the car went off the road and hit a ditch, causing the car to flip. Hernández was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
She was transported to Athens Limestone Hospital, where she later died of her injuries. The driver was uninjured.
