Who is Shane Lee Brown?
Body camera footage shows the moment a black man was arrested on a warrant against a white man with the same name after police said: “I’m pretty sure it will be you.”
Shane Lee Brown, 25, was arrested on a warrant and spent six days in jail after being pulled over for a traffic violation on January 8, 2020, despite repeatedly telling police that he was the “wrong kind”.

Footage later shows Brown sitting on the sidewalk as two officers argue about arresting him. An officer can be heard saying: ‘If he has a court tomorrow, we don’t want to arrest him.’ That would be silly.
“You got arrested for something with a gun,” he said. ‘Doesn’t a bell ring?’

“No, wrong guy,” Shane Lee Brown replied. I have never been arrested on weapons-related charges.
But officers tell him the warrant came back ‘totally matching you’.
“There’s not much else we can do,” one of them said.
He reportedly begged the officers to double check his identity, but the officer is signing in with this social security number instead. They argue more about what to do and decide to tell the jail that he has ‘a weapons charge’.
They handcuff Shane Lee Brown, who allegedly asked them if he was “ready to go” as long as the crime wasn’t him, but the officer told him he was “almost 100 percent” sure the Brown they were arresting was the right one. .
“I’m pretty sure it will be you,” he replied, according to News 8 Now.
