Who was Marcus Bryant?
A MAN has died after a train dragged him along a New York City subway platform and onto the tracks, according to police.
The tragedy occurred in Brooklyn, although it is unclear exactly how 37-year-old Marcus Bryant became trapped on the train.

Officials from the NYPD and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority have conflicting accounts of the fatal incident that occurred at the Avenue M subway station in Brooklyn.
Bryant exited the Q train around 11:50 p.m. m. Wednesday night when, according to the NYPD, Bryant’s pants and possibly his foot got stuck in the door of the train, the New York Daily News reported.
“The man was dragged alongside the train,” a DCPI spokesman told The Sun.
“He then he dislodged and went into the roadbed. He was then hit by an oncoming train.”
Investigation
But NYC Transit President Richard Davey said a preliminary investigation found Bryant was not trapped in the gate.
Davey said Bryant was trapped between the train and the platform, but how he was dragged is unknown.
“The individual was trapped between the train and the platform and then fell into the pit, onto the tracks, and a second train passed by,” Davey said.
Bryant was transported to Maimonides Medical Center, where he died early Thursday, the New York police said.
The department did not release any further information when approached by The Sun about the differing stories from traffic and police officials.
A medical examiner will now work to determine Bryant’s cause of death.
Davey said the cameras at the Avenue M station were working at the time of the incident.
“It was a tragic accident last night. Our hearts go out to the victim and her loved ones,” he said during a news conference at the train station.
“We’re also here to find out what happened and make sure it never happens again.”
Q train service was disrupted due to the incident until around 3 a.m., MTA officials said.
In 2019, a man was killed in a similar accident after he was dragged 20 feet into a tunnel as a 7 train pulled out of Grand Central Terminal.
Samuel L Jackson was also near a train when his foot got caught in a door as the train pulled out of a station in 1988.
