A deluded mother today insisted her thug son was ‘not a bad boy’ even after he kidnapped his girlfriend and left her unable to walk and talk – as pictures emerged showing him smirking while posing with a zombie knife.
Kathy Norris spoke out after her son Chay Bowskill, 20, was jailed for seven and a half years for bundling the 19-year-old into a van which she then fell out of, causing catastrophic brain injuries.
The carer said she was ‘devastated’ by Angel Lynn’s life-changing injuries and that that her ‘heart goes out to her family’, but later made an ill-judged defence of her son’s character.

Shocking CCTV footage (left and right) shows Angel Lynn, 19, being forced into a van by 20-year-old Chay Bowskill, her boyfriend at the time
‘What happened to her has destroyed me – it is horrific, absolutely tragic, a terrible thing and I’m devastated,’ she told Sun Online.
‘I knew Angel well, she was always staying with Chay at our house, she was such a lovely, beautiful girl.’
But later she added: ‘My son’s not a bad boy but he’s not a saint.’
In a series of social media posts, Bowskill wore a sick grin as he showed off the deadly weapons aged just 14 in the back garden of a residential house.
In almost every picture on his platform he is seen performing an offensive gesture at the camera as well using a vile racist slur in one post.
Another menacing image shows him wearing a mask doing the same hand insult, holding a huge baseball bat in the other.
Years later on September 17, 2020, he would act on his violent impulses in the worst possible way.
His grabbed his then girlfriend Angel and bundled her into a van before she fell from the vehicle as it travelled at 60mph along the A6 near Loughborough.
Miss Lynn had originally been driving the van, but parked up and walked away following a row between her and Bowskill. He was seen on CCTV chasing after her, then grabbing her and carrying her in the vehicle.
Miss Lynn is still unable to communicate and requires round-the-clock care after suffering a fractured skull, Leicester Crown Court heard this week. Her family described her current state as ‘catatonic’.
Bowskill was jailed for seven-and-a-half years, although it is now set to be reviewed if it was too lenient.
Her heartbroken mum Nikki, 47, said: ‘This has wrecked Angel’s life.

‘She will never have a job or be a mum. She’ll never hang out with her brothers, sisters or friends again.
‘And it’s wrecked our lives too. She needs round-the-clock, 24-hour care. That is our lives now.
‘He’ll be out in less than three years. It makes me furious. What kind of message is that sending to monsters like him?
‘He can be back out trying to wreck other women’s lives while my daughter is trapped forever,’ she added to The Sun.
‘She was the most beautiful girl and now she’s completely disabled,’ Angel’s aunt Jackie Chamberlain told Leicestershire Live, ‘She will never get better.’
Ms Chamberlain said she was ‘disappointed’ at the sentences handed out to Bowskill and his friend Rocco Sansome, 20, who was driving the van, after they received jail terms of seven-and-a-half years and 21 months respectively on Wednesday.
The pair had been found guilty of kidnapping following a trial at Leicester Crown Court – a crime which carries a maximum potential sentence of life imprisonment, according to solicitors JD Spicer Zeb. Bowskill was also convicted of coercive and controlling behaviour.
Ms Chamberlain said: ‘We have been given a life sentence because Angel’s injuries are so horrific.
Bowskill (pictured) and Sansome both denied kidnap but were found guilty after trial. Bowskill was jailed for seven-and-a-half years while Sansome was sentenced to 21 months in prison
Angel’s aunt said the teen’s family have had to become doctors and nurses to provide round-the-clock care, adding that her mother is ‘the strongest person I know’ (Pictured: Angel with her mother Nikki)
Angel’s personality changed and she became a ‘different person’ after starting year-long relationship with Bowskill, Leicester Crown Court was told (Pictured: Angel)
‘They will walk out after half their sentences are finished and get on with their lives.
‘She’s never going to get married, have children and have a normal life.
‘She’s in hospital and won’t be able to come home without a lot of changes being made to the family’s home.’
She added: ‘Angel picked the wrong boy – like so many girls do – and she paid for it. She will never be the same.’
Ms Chamberlain revealed Angel has had her last rites read to her three times and that she nearly died in hospital after catching Covid.
She added that the teen’s two younger sisters have been left traumatised by the ordeal.
She said: ‘Our family has had to become doctors and nurses.
‘Her 10-year-old sister sits panicking, watching her oxygen levels go up and down when she should be enjoying her childhood. Her mum, Nikki, is the strongest person I know.’
Angel’s other aunt, Julie Hutchinson, said the fact she is still alive is a ‘technicality.’
She said: ‘She’s alive but she’ll never live a life and she’ll be in constant pain.
