Although Dame Judi did not blame any specific ailment for her fall, in the past she has spoken about her deteriorating eyesight, which has meant she now struggles to learn lines.
Speaking about her eyesight she said in an interview with the Radio Times, Dame Judi said: “I can’t read scripts any more because of the trouble with my eyes. And so somebody comes in and reads them to me, like telling me a story.

“It’s usually my daughter or my agent or a friend and actually I like that. I sit there and imagine the story in my mind.”
The star suffers from a condition known professionally as macular degeneration, which affects approximately 600,000 people in the UK.
