Who is Matthew Preziose?
Matthew Preziose, 25, was last seen Saturday before being swept away by floodwaters off Lumaha’i, north of Kaua’i.
Rescue teams were dispatched around 1 p.m. due to reports of two swimmers in distress in the waters off Lumaha’i Beach. According to a statement from the Kaua’i Police Department, a swimmer made it safely to shore.
Missing
Preziose is still missing. He is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and was last seen wearing a blue swimsuit.

The US Coast Guard, Hanalei firefighters and roving patrol lifeguards assisted in the search, which was called off due to darkness around 6 p.m. Saturday night. Jet ski crews from the state Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) assisted the search party Sunday morning, with additional shoreline searches conducted by the Kaua’i Police Department.
