Mr Ferguson was most recently seen in the Spar shop in Wheatley Road, Saltcoats on the morning of 1 March.

Loved ones who have been searching for him said their pursuit was dropped.

A message on the Facebook page committed to the pursuit said: “The family will require the following not many days to deal with the deficiency of Corry, would we be able to if it’s not too much trouble, ask that they be given a space to lament.”

Police Scotland said investigations into the demise were at a beginning phase

A representative for the power said it was being treated as unexplained yet there were not accepted to be any dubious conditions.
