In 2011, he was named CEO of Moderna, a Massachusetts-based biotech company best known for its Covid-19 vaccine, and he also holds about an 8% investment in the company. Bancel’s compensation in 2020 was $12.85 million, whereas in 2019 it was $8.9 million.

Stephane is a Flagship Pioneering partner. As an Independent Member of the Supervisory Board of Qiagen N.V., he earned a total of $98,831.

He earned a degree in biomolecular and chemical engineering at CentraleSupélec. Bancel earned his bachelor’s degree in biological engineering from the University of Minnesota. Both universities awarded him a master’s degree after that. He graduated from Harvard Business School with a master’s degree in business administration.

Stephane and his family currently reside in Boston, Massachusetts. With his wife, Brenda, he has two children.

According to Yahoo! Finance, he sold 10,000 MRNA shares on February 11, 2021, 9000 MRNA stock on February 10, 2021, 11,046 MRNA stock on February 5, 2021, 19,000 MRNA stock on February 4, 2021, and 11,046 MRNA stock on January 29, 2021.

Stephane Bancel deactivated his Twitter account days after Pfizer admitted that a safety assessment could result in the stock market losing billions of dollars.

This arose after Edward Dowd, a former Blackrock executive, began an investigation into death figures from funeral homes and insurance firms. He began his research by contacting funeral homes and insurance firms for death statistics.

In the vaccination clinical trials, Dowd, a former hedge fund manager, accused Moderna and Pfizer of fraud. Bancel’s Twitter account was then deactivated.
