Edgardo Canales, also known as “Edgardo Rafael Canales Guastella,” is an American citizen who was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Nationality Act of 1940 recognized Puerto Rico as a part of the United States for citizenship purposes. As a result, anybody born in Puerto Rico on or after January 13, 1941, has become a naturalized US citizen.

Edgardo got his love of justice from his lawyer father when it came to his family. Sunny Guastella, his mother, was a former Assistant Marketing Manager at Bodies The Exhibition and a “Level II Executive Consultant” at Rodan + Fields, a beauty and cosmetics company (Science museum). Edgardo’s niece was Anna, the daughter of his friend Annie Vaillant.

Edgardo earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Boston College’s Wallace E. Carroll Graduate School of Management in 2009.
