Chrissie Swan has denied crediting her dramatic weight loss transformation to quitting alcohol.

The radio presenter, 48, has previously spoken about giving up alcohol and going on daily 10km walks to improve her physical and mental health during lockdown.

‘You say one thing and then all of a sudden you’re the poster girl for that thing,’ she said on The Weekend Briefing podcast.

‘I very carefully said, “I drank too much in lockdown and it wasn’t very good for my mental health, my anxiety was through the roof, so I gave it up and it’s been a great decision for me”,’ she explained.

Chrissie went on to say her comments were ‘misconstrued’.

She continued: ‘I never said that, I never ever talked about my body. I won’t be talking about my body. My body is utterly irrelevant.’

In February, Chrissie told The Australian Women’s Weekly she ditched alcohol and started walking every day when the Covid lockdowns started.

‘We couldn’t go out to dinner, we couldn’t go to a friend’s house, they couldn’t come to us, we couldn’t go outside five kilometres. All we could do was walk, and so that’s what I did,’ she explained.

Chrissie began walking only short distances, but steadily increased her fitness and now walks for two hours per day.

The radio host also turned to meditation to improve her mental health during lockdown.

On top of that, Chrissie also makes a lot of her own food and carries healthy snacks around with her in a backpack when she goes out.

Last year, she shared the contents of her backpack, revealing that it contained gözleme, tuna hand rolls, sashimi, smoked salmon, apples, dill, iceberg lettuce, and truss tomatoes.
