He was killed by a Border Patrol agent who rushed into the school without waiting for backup, according to a law enforcement official.
Per the report, the gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School – which teaches children aged seven to 10 – in the city of Uvalde. The suspect had a handgun, an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, and high-capacity magazines, investigators say.
The 18-year-old is also suspected of shooting his grandmother before the rampage. In a statement, Pete Arredondo, chief of police of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District, said that the brutal attack began at 11:32 on Tuesday and investigators believe the attacker “acted alone”.

He was killed in an exchange of gunfire with police. During the shooting, a Border Patrol agent who was working nearby rushed into the school without waiting for backup and shot and killed the gunman behind a barricade, according to a law enforcement official speaking on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to discuss the case.
In addition to that, he shot his grandmother before the mass shooting, authorities say, and she remains hospitalized in critical condition. Further, the suspect was a resident of Uvalde and he reportedly acted alone.
Whom Did He Chat With Before Shooting?
Before committing the mass shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde that has led to 21 deaths (19 children and two teachers), the attacker sent chilling messages to a random girl on social media.
Salvador Ramos, the suspect wrote, ”I have a little secret I want to tell you. I’m about to…’, via a private chat on Instagram to a girl in California, which seemed to preview the crime he would commit.
Report tells that he sent her a message just two hours before he committed the massacre. He sent her a message that read “I’m going out.”
When the shooting began, it was discovered he had also tagged her in a prominent post with pictures of his guns on his Facebook page. However, the girl mentioned that she followed the conversation because she was scared.
Further, the random messages seemingly started on May 12 and she denies that she had any ties with the shooter.
